polymer drawings (collection #5)

Year: 2017

The polymer drawings originated as the first exploration of motifs that could lead to paintings or sculptures. Autonomously these drawings have a strong material feel, the polymer permits to almost staple the pigments. That results in a suede look, mainly in the dark surfaces. Their small size only enforces this even more, like little precious gems. When I first made such a drawing I was so surprised by the compact feel it had. There’s something magical to it! Making it very seductively sensual and while easily provoking fetishism.
